It is a story of divine providence, cultural legacy, and ancestral resilience, passed down through generations for over 600 years. Our roots trace back to our first widely recognized ancestor, Ihuo, born around 1390 AD, who settled in a place once called Umu Obi n’Ohia Agu, now known as Eziukwu, in Ekitiafo, Umuozu, part of the ancient Isu Clan of the Igbo Nation.
As part of the Ekitiafo community, alongside the kindreds of Umuokwe, Umueze, and Umuorawai, the ancestors of the Bisike family lived on their native lands for centuries. In response to shifting economic and environmental conditions, they migrated through areas known as ‘ala mbi’ before settling permanently in Umueze, historically referred to as ‘mmezi ala ikpa’.
The family name we now proudly carry — Bisike — was not always our identity. In earlier times, we were known as ‘Uhu Olowe’ and later ‘Umu Nwa Duruemezuo’, names reflecting our ancestral heritage and maternal lineage. The adoption of the name “Bisike” marks a pivotal chapter in our family’s journey.
The Bisike family is defined by extraordinary figures whose courage, wisdom, and divine favor shaped our legacy. The Legends of the Bisike Family are more than names in our ancestry — they are the spiritual and cultural architects of who we are today.
